What are the five precepts - Five precepts of buddhism

Before performing penance, one should protect the three doors of mind, body, and speech and respect the three jewels of Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha.

There is an order of penance. It is important for all Buddhists and non-Buddhists to know.

It is possible for oneself to perform penance. If not, he can invite the bhikkhu to establish himself in the Panchasheela.

We should first place both hands on the forehead three times,

Sadu! Sadu! Sadu!!

Along with that, the worship text should be recited three times.

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato samma sambuddhassa

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato samma sambuddhassa

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato samma sambuddhassa

meaning

May my worship be to that blessed arahath Lord Buddha!

After worshiping, one should stay in refuge. This is also known as the refuge of the three, the position of Tisarana. Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha are these three. There is an order in taking refuge in the Trinity. It is as follows.

Buddhang Saranang Gachchami

Dhamman Saran Gachami

Sanghan Saranan Gachchami

Duthiyampi Buddhang Saranang Gachchami

Duthiyampi Dhamman Saranang Gachchami

Duthiyampi Sanghan Saranan Gachchami

Tathiampi Buddhang Saranang Gachchami

Tathiampi Dhamman Saranang Gachchami

Tathiampi Sanghan Saranan Gachami

meaning

I take refuge in Buddha, I take refuge in Dhamma, I take refuge in Sangha.

I take refuge in Buddha secondly, I take refuge in Dhamma secondly, I take refuge in Sangha secondly.

I take refuge in Buddha thirdly, I take refuge in Dhamma thirdly, I take refuge in Sangha thirdly.

Five precepts

After taking refuge in the Holy Trinity, one should perform penance. By taking shelter of the three, one can enter Buddhahood. But one becomes a Buddhist by following Buddhist principles. Without fulfilling these principles, it is not possible to reach nirvana, which is the goal of Buddhism, only by believing in the three gods. Therefore, secondly, one should promise to avoid five mistakes. It is called penance.

Celebrating penance is a principle. In order to be in penance, one must be in that principle and act to free others from those mistakes. For example, if someone doesn't drink alcohol, he acts to get rid of it. Thus, if someone avoids five sins and works to prevent others from doing so, he will be situated in Panchasheela.

Panathipatha Veramani Sikkha Padang Samadiyami

Adinnadana Veramani Sikkha Padang Samadiyami

Kamesu Michachara Veramani Sikkha Padang Samadiyami

Musavada Veramani Sikkha Padang Samadiyami

Surameraya Majjapama Dattana Veramani Sikkha Padang Samadiyami

Five precepts meaning
